Originally from County Kerry in the southwest of Ireland, Ciara joined Care on Call in May 2019 shortly after moving to New Zealand. With a background in Health and Leisure, specialising in Adapted Physical Activity, she began her journey as a casual support worker while working as a teacher’s aide in Auckland.
After four years supporting clients across Auckland, she stepped into office roles as a Home and Community Support and Flexible Supports Coordinator. As Individualised Funding services expanded in Auckland, she transitioned into a full-time IF Coordinator role, which she found incredibly rewarding. In 2025, she took on the exciting challenge of becoming Client Services Manager for Auckland and Northland.
What motivates her most is working with people; being there for kiritaki and helping ensure wraparound support through Home and Community, ACC, or Disability Support Services.
Outside of work, she’s a passionate athlete. She plays rugby union for Ponsonby Fillies and North Harbour Rugby and previously represented Ireland in rugby from 2015 to 2019. She also enjoys AFL and Gaelic football socially, cooking for friends and whanau, gym sessions, and the occasional uphill walk (with a little encouragement!).
